ABOUT ME
Mario Kyriacou AKA Mal Kyri was born in London’s Guys Hospital in November 1956. At the age of fifteen became a professional musician touring around the UK circuit and in 1987 after turning down a record deal, he went on to open an artiste promotions company M.K. Artistes Ltd. Sharing the premises at 136, George St, Marble Arch was Simon Napier Bell; (George Michael’s Management Company), Simon Fuller "19 Management" and Simon Cowell (X-Factor). He had subsequent success including six UK No.1 hits in the 90’s. Mario was also integral in launching the iconic dance music with the artiste Snap “I’ve Got The Power” Featuring Jocelyn Brown, vocals, Adamski’s “Killer” (Phonogram) featuring Seal on vocals, Bizarre Inc. featuring Angie Brown “Why Waste Your Time, You know You’re Gonna Be Mine.” and ‘The Adventures of Stevie’s’ “Dirty Cash” to name but a few. Mario also represented such DJ´s as Steve Wright, Bruno Brooks and many other top Radio 1, Kiss FM & Capitol Radio presenters.
1992 M. K Artistes Ltd was awarded the Top Agents Award in London.
1996, Due to personal reasons Mario closed his business and moved to Cyprus with his family where in 1998 just two weeks after his mother’s funeral; his Daughter Vicky contracted Osteo Sarcoma, a deadly bone cancer and consequently died on the 17th February 1999 at London’s Middlesex children’s Hospital, she had just turned 18 years old.
2002: Moved to Florida and lived for four years, opening an “A”-class recording studio, and after producing a local band's album "Among The Thirsty" were invited to open for renowned Bon Jovi in front of twenty thousand people at the St Pete Times Forum concert.
Mario's new novel “Get This” is a boy band’s tale based on his experiences in the early days of working with "Take That" and other "A" Listed Artistes, and is currently under review for film.
Mario now lives in Crete, Greece enjoying gigs, novels and working on his inventions.
